Prada Flame Heels, available here

Hello Kitty Laduree Macarons
At Louis Vuitton, available here. One of the rare LVs I've seen without logos. LOVE the scrumptious leather and simple design.

Oriental Canteen
We wouldn't have survived the trip without many pit stops to fill our hungry tummies. I've noticed that the occasions that I've been completely bowled over by the quality of the food, it was almost always at super duper cheap restaurants or bistros. Perhaps I should say that the cheaper the food, the better it tastes. Or maybe I'm just a cheap date.
I stumbled upon Oriental Canteen many years ago while trying to locate a store on my GPS. Where else can you get an authentic Malaysian meal with a drink for less than £6? The Wat Dan Hor (flat rice noodles with egg sauce) was the best I've ever had. The sauce is tasty with the right amount of the smoky flavor that one can only achieve from an incredibly hot wok. And the price? £5.50! A can of coke will set you back 0.60 pence. Unbelievable. It's set in the heart of one of the most expensive piece of real estate in London - South Kensington.

I was given a voucher by Fortnum & Mason to their Parlour restaurant. Thankfully, I'd booked a few days earlier as the queue was pretty long when we arrived. The food was pretty average and certainly not good value for money. The Black Forest cake was too dry. However, the service that I'd received was exceptional.

Oh my goodness! Food & Fashion, my 2 most favourite things! I love the heels, bag (agree about the lack of logos and monogram) and ALL the food looks just yummy! Will definately visit next time I'm in town.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a while since I've seen a LV bag devoid of logos. There's certainly tons to see in London.
DeleteOh I'm book marking the Malaysian place, what incredible value in London!
ReplyDeleteI like these hole in the wall kind of places. The decor sucks but the food is incredible.
DeleteSounds like you and your mother had a nice time! :) I agree, that LV is really nice and those Prada flame heels are just too cool! :)

The Habit
Those Prada flame heels are eye catching. Gorgeous heels but I would most likely break my ankles just trying to walk in them.
DeleteSo glad this city is waiting for me to visit it! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till you get here!
Deleteoh dear...i'm drooling over the chicken rice...........i'll be taking a trip back to kl this year, and i'm already listing all the must have food to track down.
ReplyDeleteYou lucky thing!! All those yummy food waiting for you.... So jealous.
Deletei love to go shopping followed by a wonderful lunch, then shopping, then cake and a cappuccino, maybe a little bit more shopping...I wrote down the name of that malaysian restaurant(ok, I took apicture with my iphone ;)) good to know!
ReplyDeleteHope you get a chance to try the different Malaysian dishes at Oriental Canteen.
Deleteone day if time and hubby work will permit.. we can visit London too and I will definitely contact you so we can meet up and tour us. I'm sure you are the best person who can show us the beauty of this city :)
ReplyDeletetake care dear. xoxo, Haus of Gala
ps. i just want that hello kitty laduree!!!
I look forward to seeing you in the near future!
DeleteThis is one deliciously delectable post! I am suddenly hungry just looking at all these yum delights. Cute blog, following you with Bloglovin
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sam
DeleteI am intrigued by the plate with the two ice cream cones!
ReplyDeleteThe miniature cones are cute but the flavors were just so-so.
DeleteGreat find with the Malaysian place! I love stumbling across places like that.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite restaurants in Italy are those that don't look all that great and only locals hang out there. Cheap and good.
DeleteTo borrow a phrase from my Southern counterparts "Oh my word!" my dear you have the golden trifecta here (Day with mom) (Shopping) (Food) I want to say it Just can't get better but the fact that you are doing this all in London puts it over the top. Oh don't you just hate the snooty security/employees preventing you from taking a measly photo as if you're stealing merchandise or something ... Ridiculous!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe security guard made me delete every single photo of the window display in front of him. Why display it in a public place for all to see? Besides, I was standing on the public sidewalk. Bizarre.
DeleteI love hello kitty macarons Ladurée !
ReplyDeleteCute, aren't they?
DeleteMMMM I love this post.I wanna eat it haha:) I thank you for sweet words on my blog and I like your blog also. I now follow you on twitter &FB..I hope you will follow me back, because I have more swedish inspiration for you:)
ReplyDeleteHave a awsome week.
LOVE Maria at inredningsvis
My pleasure, Maria. Thank you for dropping by.
DeleteI WANT ROAST DUCK! I WANT ROAST DUCK! I WANT ROAST DUCK!!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be eating plenty of that in KK soon. *sigh* Think of me while you dig into those yummy local delights.
DeleteOh my..YUM..YUM..and YUM...who can cure my Asian food addiction?! I want to gobble everything down right now. It is very difficult to find "good" Chinese restaurants here ehere i live. Most taste like junk and the quality of meat/veggies is less than impressive. I was so hoping to eat good Chinese food when i was home but didnt have enough time. Very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI bet a shopping trip with your mom was very fun. I realky enjoyed window shopping on your blog here. I wonder who would wear that pair of Prada shoes, they are fun to look at but i will pass. The LV bag is beautiful, very uncommon- i likee!!
Up until 1.5 years ago, we barely have a single authentic Asian restaurant. Luckily, there's one fantastic Thai in town. The rest are as you've said...fake Asian food. I like the LV bag too. I'm sure it comes with a hefty price tag.
DeleteWe're going to the British Design exhibition at the V&A soon and never know of restaurants over there as it's not our 'hood so I'm definitely going to try the Oriental Canteen as it looks fab. Thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteAnnie, the OC is across the road from V&A, right by the South Ken tube station.
DeleteThis food is making my mouth water it all looks absolutley delicious - I still can't believe you can get meals as cheap as that in the UK (London no less). You can't even get anything for that cheap here in Aus. Can't wait to get to London :)

I can't believe I have never been to Fortnum & Mason despite having been to London thrice.
ReplyDeleteHmm...I don't know when (def not in the near future sadly). But when I do go London again, you will be my consultant :)
Aww... I love shopping and food with my mom. I hope your mom is enjoying London.
ReplyDeleteI love that LV bag- it's so understated and perfect.
I love how you've brought fashion, macaroons (because they are a category of their own!) and Asian cuisine together in this post. I haven't had a decent Macaroon in over a year!
ReplyDeleteShopping + food = best day ever :) Sounds like you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteThat Malaysian place sounds incredible! Wad dan hor is one of my favourite dishes :) It's been a while since I visited London.. really want to go soon!
