If you're bored of looking at photos of Paris, I'm afraid here are a few more........ I felt like a proper tourist wielding a hefty DSLR and a smartphone. What's impressive these days is I'm seeing more and more people carrying around a telescoping selfie arm. It's a selfie revolution and a trend that's here to stay. We had a giggle at seeing one at work and marveled at how unself conscious some individuals were. Good for them. If I were a time traveler from the early 20th century, I doubt I'd understand modern English where words like selfie, hashtag food, Instagram, Facebook and so forth are so commonly used these days.

Over the years of making the journey back and forth between Paris and London, I've noticed that the much publicized mythical Parisian chic is only visible in specific arrondissements, notably the more expensive areas. I love the carefree and diverse fashion landscape in London as much as the more restrained but equally stylish personal style in Paris. My favorite activity in Paris? Gawking at chic ladies in St Germain while sipping a cup of coffee.

What are your favorite things to do in Paris?

  1. Such stunning photographs. I love this so much. I've been to Paris a number of times and I adore just getting 'lost' in the little backstreets, enjoying the cafés and bars rather than sightseeing. Lynne x

    1. But Caille, I'm terrible at picking clothes. I only know what I like so I memorize all the brands that suit my figure best. Lately, it's just been lots of leather jackets and track pants. Are you sure you want my recommendations?!!

    2. Are you kidding me? My two favorite jackets (both IM, go figure) and my favorite early fall sweater (from Mango, where I never go) came from YOUR recommendation. Would love to know what you like for fall.

    3. I'm really flattered. Thank you! I'm still compiling my list which is taking ages because I nitpick everything I see. I'll post it once I've got that sorted.

  3. I love that photo of the ceilings below the macarons. Is it in the Louvre?
My favourite things in Paris are - chocolat au Afrique at Angelinas; feeding the sparrows by hand at Palais Royal; second hand clothes shopping in the 16th (Rue de la Pompe for the Diplomatic Corps Chanel hand me downs!);wandering on Ile St Louis and ice cream at Berthillon; Christmas shopping in November at Printemps and Bon Marche. I could go on forever and I haven't been to Paris once this year! Susan, London

    1. I'm trying to remember. It's either the Louvre or Palais Royal. I was following a friend as she weaved in and out between buildings so quickly. I haven't shopped at the secondhand stores along Rue de la Pompe in years. Did you managed to pick up any good bargains there, Susan?

  6. Starting the day with a croissant and coffee in St Germain or Le Marais then hitting the boutiques. Followed by a stroll along the Seine. Perfect day! We must meet up in Paris one day. My heart misses that city so much!!

  7. Hello, happy for you that you enjoy Paris that much and that you can find what suits you in french brands. I'll be happy to meet you next time you're coming, although I am not a true parisian! And you know, you may have influenced me because within 5 months I've just bought two leather moto jacket and I'm starting to wear more casual clothes.... I won't last, do not desper... We are all evolving during our life because we are getting older (really??!!), wiser (yes yes), different. A new "me" but always me at the end anyway. Your current style does suit you and that is the most important. Wish you a nice sunday.
