Thanks to my friend Laura, I bought my very first proper camo piece from J.Crew. I decided to go for the small instead of the next size down because I prefer the slightly oversized fit. I opted out of the grey because I have what seems like a million other similarly colored clothes in my closet. The "wet mountain" color blended in rather well with the foliage behind me so I felt properly camouflaged. Utterly vapid observation but I couldn't resist.

Oh wait, there's the rarely sighted Birkin........  I was admonished by an Hermes artisan a few years back for never "airing" it. Well, I am now.  Airing the Birkin properly by taking it out for a walk which feels like a naff thing to do near the countryside. Secondly, it's been so long I had to hand hold a bag that I've forgotten how to. Trying to grab Lil L's hand, wield a chunky camera and lug a Birkin requires a superb motor coordination that I do not have. So........ I'm afraid, beautiful as it is, the bag will go back to being a decoration piece for the next decade when it'll be properly vintage then.

  1. Love you in Camo, especially with that gorgeous sunny blue bag (that blue makes me want to singgg!!) You're lucky you're across the pond and can't hear

    1. Yup. I have no patience for fussy bags including a Birkin even if it's mine.

  5. Love the blue of the bag (is that your Thallassa B?) with the green print. Blues with green always look so nice. Cool sunglasses, too! Rare to see you out of your regular glasses. :)

I don't carry my B much any more either. Not that I don't love it - just sick of the Kardashian/Eccelstone oversaturation of it all. Hopefully in a decade they'll have moved on to something else. :) Till then, an occasional "airing" may be in order here, too.

    1. Yup. That's my infamous Thalassa bleu bag. I don't want to count cost per wear because I will cry. Remember when we started our Hermes craze? Can't believe it was so long ago.

  6. Love the sweatshirt and somehow you manage to still make it look feminine - the ballet pumps and hair down is a winner. I've not tried any of the J Crew sweatshirts yet ... but there's always time!

    1. AH...Sue, I do love you. I haven't associate the word feminine with me for such a long time. The quality is really good. Give it a go.

  11. That's the perfect way to style camo, so it doesn't look too grungey. J Crew is fairly ubiquitous in Canada so maybe I'll find a similar sweatshirt in the thrift and consignment stores here. Fingers crossed.

    1. I guess I can still get away with J Crew here as it's not as popular. It's hard to find one that isn't too green and hurts the eye.

  12. Maybe a pain to carry but styling the Birkin with the sweatshirt looks great!

  14. I see lots of comments already about your beautiful Birkin, but oh boy it truly is a beautiful bag! I love your style Marlene. Mine is a lot like yours only with skinny jeans instead of the boyfriend ones. I have yet to try the BF jean. xx
    Lovely pics as usual too.

    1. Sarah, thank you. I'm really touched by the comments. I don't consider myself stylish. I'm very comfort driven. Those BF jeans have been featured here way too many times. Bet people are starting to wonder if I own just a pair of jeans.
