London: Chelsea's Best Kept Secrets

My all time favorite place to go shopping is Chelsea in London. Seriously, what's not to like? There are plenty of eye wateringly expensive townhouses to ogle, beautiful architecture, contemporary to high end designer stores and best of all, a serene atmosphere. It's crazy to think that there are 8 million people squished into London but amazingly, there's a calm oasis just off the main road.

Knightsbridge can feel like a madhouse especially along Brompton Road where the iconic Harrods is situated. But if you walk down Sloane Street towards Kings Road, you'll be hard pressed to think you're still in London. Most tourists hardly ever go beyond the Hermes store on Sloane St but there are so many charming lanes with pretty boutiques. In fact, if you're mad about Chanel as I am, I'd skip all the popular locations and head straight to their boutique on 278-280 Brompton Road. You get better and more attentive service without the frenzied crowd. I love to explore the little streets off King's Road as well because you can find quirky stores like John Sandoe bookshop.

The Shop At Bluebird is a favorite amongst fashion insiders and locals. Hop on a bus down King's Road if you don't feel like walking. Fancy a Balenciaga or Rick Owens leather jacket or perhaps the latest Isabel Marant collection? Their clothes are always well edited especially if you're a lazy shopper like me. What are your favorite shopping spots in London?

  1. This post has just made me want to go to Cocomaya. I lovvvve it there. I don't think I've ever actually been shopping around Chelsea. I usually hit up Covent Garden but after reading this, I definitely need to plan a shopping trip around Chelsea. I should probably save up for a spree (which lets be real would probably get me a handkerchief or something) but it's my dream to own a Rick Owens leather jacket so The Shop at Bluebird sounds like it's definitely worth a visit!

  6. Wonderful post Marlene and thank you for sharing these best kept secrets with us all. I love Chelsea for the same reasons and I always enjoy it's calmness, refreshing in London! I love French sole but I didn't know there was a store in London, so I must take a trip to there when I visit London next. :)

    Take care,
