August Sales & Necklaces

Wednesday 11 August 2010
Now that we're heading towards mid August, the sales are winding down but the discounts are getting more hefty in a bid to get rid of all the summer stock. I've been scouring the internet and the shops to find necklaces that would suit my sister in law's new corporate wardrobe which is made up of tailored shirts, suits and plain tops. Her requirements are 1) hardware has to be silver  2) within her budget of £135 (NZD 300).

I figure her best bet would be to find versatile pieces so that she can mix and match with various separates. First up is a plaited necklace from Jaeger. It's a statement necklace which can easily transform a simple outfit.

Here's an example from net-a-porter.com where a statement necklace literally transforms the look of a simple t-shirt jersey dress.

I've also found a long necklace from Mango which can be doubled up or worn long. The red beads will contrast well with dark colors and/or prints. The red color is surprisingly lovely as a neutral.

I rather like this Lanvin-esque fishnet stocking pearl necklace by Juliet & Company. It's inexpensive and available at Shopbop for USD $55. I'd probably not pair it with a fishnet top and flashing my bra at the world but it'd look just as nice against a crisp white collared shirt.

Here's another option which is very similar to the necklace pictured above but in a different color. It's the Long Rose Lace necklace by Juliet & Company for USD 32.50 including postage.

This bib necklace from Tuleste Market with turquoise stones makes a dramatic statement especially against a neutral backdrop. At 70% off from USD $170 down to USD $51, it's a bargain.

The Orbital necklace by Tuleste Market is certainly eye-catching to say the least. It's unique and again, at 70% off from USD $140 down to USD $42, it's a great buy.
