I couldn't resist using the popular idiom as a title to the post though there's something that left me rather bemused. The walls on either side of the walkway from the waiting lounge to the plane was plastered with Mastercard ads postulating the widespread acceptance of the well known credit card in every taverna, shop, bar and bakery in Greece. *chuckle*  Leave your credit cards at home and make sure you bring lots of cash. Cash is king there. Times have changed..........

My first trip to Greece was 17 years ago when I traipsed up and down, left and right to various parts of the country. NescafĂ© frappĂ© and Greek coffee were the national drinks back in those days. Now, it's  freddo cappuccino or espresso, both of which I adore. To my Greek friends.....I'm sorry.....I still can't bear Greek coffee despite being back to the country 4 times on previous occasions.

After Hydra, Paros was surprisingly very affordable. In a bid to be healthy and lose a few much needed kilos, Heather and I figured we should order several side orders of veggies. Don't be fooled by the €6 price tags because the plate was larger than my face.

Lil L and I were well fed by Heather and her husband, both of whom are fantastic cooks and the latter, a chef. I over-indulged in greasy food and was left in agonizing pain for several days. Meanwhile, Lil L was in her element with the opportunity to eat her favorite wriggly mollusk. *choke*

  1. Bless you for these gorgeous photos, am enjoying the heat and sunshine vicariously. Is that a chanel WOC or a small bag?

    1. I was freezing today. I went out in shorts and nearly froze! You've got eagle eyes. It's a Chanel caviar WOC.

  3. Luke enjoys saying it's all Greek to me when visiting my family (my grandparents don't speak much english, and it's generally littered with Greek words when they do). I think the coffee is an acquired taste, for me, I always love ordering an elliniko cafe, diplo - still haven't figured out where to buy it in Sydney! And the FOOD!!! God it looks like you girls ate like kings, serious food envy here! x

    1. I didn't know you're Greek. I remember seeing tons of Greek restaurants in Melbourne. BTW, how are you doing in Sydney? Missing Wellington much?

  4. coming back from holiday to see your holiday pictures just makes me feel in super denial about going back to work. i want to wear denim shorts every day for six weeks and not care what my hair looks like.

the food looks amazing - saving this away from my trip to Greece, some day.

    1. YOUR holiday looks incredible. I brought my hair brush...a waste of space in my suitcase seeing that I didn't even bother to brush my hair once.
