I've been MIA from blogging for a week and a bit, thanks to the half term break. It's been a rather refreshing respite and.......... wow, there's a world outside of blogging (!!!). I've also signed up for Pilates lessons to tone up my pudgy self and hopefully, fix my old sports injury. I'm glued to a laptop nearly everyday and live a somewhat sedentary lifestyle but it's high time I have a more consistent exercise routine.

Oh, and I've just discovered Korean dramas for the first time ever, thanks to a friend of mine who insisted I MUST check them out at least once. Lots of crying.....self sacrificial love....overly dramatic acting but boy, are they addictive. I'm still trying to work out the crazy hairstyle on the rather effeminate looking Korean actors and the kawaii style of acting. I guess they must really like cutesy, helpless girls.....

A friend and I with two kids in tow (okay, one's a teenager so technically it's only one kid) made a mad dash to London. We stayed overnight at a hotel I wouldn't ever recommend in this lifetime nor the next. This is what happens when you make a last minute booking.

I was dying to go to Nicholas Kirkwood sample sale. I'm obsessed with his shoes. The previous sale was a miss but I was hoping to see sensible heels and flats on offer this time around as he has introduced more of these into his current collections. It was surprisingly quiet when we arrived just before lunchtime. There were a lot more choices for those who are "blessed" with impossibly small size 35 feet.

I grabbed a few options (second photo from left to right) - the first pair (£200) were a little too similar to the ones I'd bought recently. The lace mules with fancy triangle heels were comfortable. The £50 price tag made them even more tempting but received a resounding no from my posse. I'd tried on the mesh and suede heels before at Browns. They were surprisingly comfortable but the price tag of £600 made me feel a little faint. It took 3 different staff members to find the other sandal. Actually, I should add that I was desperate enough to race from one corner of the room to the next, peering over the table to see if the box was misplaced. It was a triumphant moment equivalent to nabbing the ultimate prize at a competition when I held both heels to my chest and made it to the cashier's desk. Yeah......only a fellow shoeaholic will understand that feeling. By the way, they were £175. The pointy strappy heels were a mere £75 but again, my honest posse shook their heads. Oh well, those with bunions should never wear pointy heels anyway.

  1. I LOVE those pointy strappy ones! The prices seemed really varying at that sample sale - is that the norm with his or were some shoot samples and were worn? x

    1. So did I but they were really pinching my toes. I was in agony but yup, they sure looked good. The more elaborate designs were approximately £200-250. I don't know....most of them look unworn and new.

  2. I like them all but I think you made the right choice - wearable but clearly designer different. That's what you want when forking out so much cash! Well done. Susan, London

    1. Thanks, Susan! It's easy to go overboard and keep buying but there's no point spending hard earned cash for things I'll never ever wear. I think one pair's enough.

  3. Wow I love the shoes you went home with, they're stunning - so good that you managed to find some lower heels this time (and should I mention how incredibly envious I am! So lucky to get the Nicholas Kirkwood samples sales!). Would love to hear how you go with Pilates, I've thought about it myself but never committed to a class x

    1. Jamie-Lee, I don't mind checking out your size for you if I'm lucky enough to go to the next sample sale. I've only ever done simple mat stuff but this studio's a little different. All the equipment....looks very intense...which is probably what I really need.

  4. Ah so happy to hear you're back and with good news...
You really had incredible luck to find such beauties in your size. I do envy you as well but, to be honest, I would not know when and how to wear these shoes. Bonus point for the "walkable" heel. I'm all for ballet flats and flat sandals right now: I found some beautiful shops on Etsy where bespoke shoes are easy to find.
Good news too for Pilates: I do some at home, with a DVD of Darcey Bussel, followed by classical barre au sol. I do feel exhausted after this but so good in the same time. Have a nice week end, well Sunday now.

    1. I don't have any evening heels so I was thrilled to find something that I can walk in. I didn't realize Darcey Bussell does exercise videos. Must check hers out.

  5. Great Kirkwood heels, Marlene. You have two enviable pairs now. I remember slipping on that NK pair that got away from me at the Outnet sale, at a Saks sale a few years ago. My friend (who loves heels) handed them to me and I thought....Meh, must be a pain to walk in.... Slipped them on and they were not only comfortable, but feminine and pretty too. Just magical design. Please do some mod shots soon!

    1. I think I'm rather satisfied with my shoe collection now. At least there are a couple options for evening or if I want to dress up a little. Other than his pointy heels, the rest of his designs have a relatively nice width around the toe box. I can't tell you how many heels I've tried on and they pinch something awful. I can barely walk a few steps without being in absolute agony.

  6. I like them all, but I believe you made the proper decision because it is wearable and obviously unique by the designer. When you spend so much money, you want that! Thank you. Professional branding services

  9. To make the most of the sale, I planned my visit in advance and set aside a few hours on a Saturday morning. I made a list of items I was interested in and went prepared with cash and my shopping bags. The venue was buzzing with excitement, and there was a long queue of eager shoppers waiting to get in. Thankfully, the organizers had arranged for efficient logistics companies to manage the crowd and ensure a smooth shopping experience.
