Outfit: Chanel tweed bouclé jacket (similar here), striped top (similar here), Zara jeans, Repetto Camille pumps (take 1 size up), Louis Vuitton Bandouliere 35 Speedy (cos I was carrying the kitchen sink, food - just in case I'd starve, shopping, camera - so that I can document everything in my life, big ass wallet with every supermarket/library/shop cards known to womankind)
Recently, I popped up to London to meet Lin, an incredibly talented writer (well, she's a journalist so that'll explain why) who was here for work. We yakked well into the night. The husband thought I'd run away from home. Since I had to come back for an event, we caught up again over cheese (Asians = foodies, from birth) because I've finally met someone who is even more cheese crazy than I am. I love the concept of La Fromagerie in Marylebone where you can grab a coffee, a cheeseboard and chat the afternoon away with a friend or shop for produce. It was terribly tempting to buy a bag of different cheeses but I didn't want anyone at the Decades collaboration with Matches Fashion party to pass out from breathing in the fumes.
See? I remembered about snapping a OOTD shot or rather Lin did ....... She was well trained by the photographers in her team and snapped away without much prompting at all. Pretty darn impressive. And even stepped out of the way if she saw her reflection in my shots.

I nipped into Matches Fashion store to see the vintage Jean-Paul Gaultier collection curated by Decades store owner, the suave and self professed uber Hermes collector, Cameron Silver. I had a quick chat with him about the various pieces which included the cone bustier (think Madonna) that were specially flown over from L.A. The shoe designer, Charlotte Dellal brought along her unbelievably well behaved baby. I love seeing women taking their kids along to events because that's what working moms have to do sometimes. I spied Susie Lau of Susie Bubble, otherwise known as the fashion oracle in the blogging world who was deep in conversation.

Lovely! Your photos just elevate everything. I went into that restaurant when I was in London two years ago - was it that long ago? and just loved it. Clever to put that gold bike out the front. Am loving your outfit, very cute and chic
ReplyDeleteApparently, I've been told my outfit has a L.A vibe...... by a fashion heavyweight.
DeleteOh - what a fun day! I adore your outfit and all of the pictures. So fun to meet Cameron! He's just two hours north of me but I rarely make it up to Decades.
ReplyDeleteI've seen photos of his store. Bet it's amazing!
DeleteLovely photos, and I so love that jacket Marlene. Major envy from me as I remember it being a bit of a bargain. You look fab as always.
ReplyDeleteI think I nearly passed out when I saw the price of a Chanel jacket at FULL retail price. I used to see Chanel jackets at thrift shops at pretty decent price until they caught on and charge way ridiculous prices now. Like the Hermes scarf that cost more than retail.
DeleteLovely photos, lovely stools ( want them for my dream kitchen! ) and gorgeous picture & outfit - May have to try and re-create it with a Zara jacket. Xx
ReplyDeleteOr Isabel Marant *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*
Delete*wink* *wink* *nudge* Nudge* indeed!!!! ha
DeleteCheese is the one thing that keeps me from ever becoming a vegan. I could give up everything else animal but that. Life wouldn't be so bright anymore. And soy cheese sucks..... ;)
ReplyDeleteYour Chanel jacket is stunning and uber chic. You have a knack for having only perfect Chanel jackets. Seriously.
I've gotten rid of all my Chanel jackets save this. Anything that doesn't get worn in a while goes. My closet is too small to keep any unnecessary junk. As for cheese....I've been trying to cut down. It makes me bloat and I look like I'm 5 months pregnant.
DeleteThe gorgeous black and white collarless one? Noooooo.....Say you didn't..........
Delete*shamefaced* yup. Sorrrry. I just can't deal with white anything very well.
DeleteWow you look fantastic. Love love love your jacket x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna. First time I've worn a color other than black for a change :P
DeleteCheese...I have a life long affair with that stuff. Much to the horror of my ever expanding waistline.
ReplyDeleteSigh. Sadly, I'm in the same boat.
DeleteI always love seeing your Chanel jacket! Fits you perfectly :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still dreaming about your black jacket. That's on top of my wish list. Someday....
DeleteBeautiful pictures and lovely outfit. Hope you had a good time hanging out with Lin - I see she was a better photographer than me holding your camera but then again I don't take a lot of beating and that's why I'm not allowed a big guns camera :o)
ReplyDeleteI was seriously impressed. She knew immediately what to do.
DeleteAbsolutely love the first photograph - that is lovely. Love you outfit as well - the jacket is wonderful !!

Thank you, Paul! I think the jacket made up for my really casual ripped jeans. All the fashion editors there were dressed to kill.
DeleteBeautiful photos Marlene! I love your outfit, your Chanel Jacket is an incredibly beautiful piece and I love it styled with the classic stripes, ripped jeans and chic flats :)
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Daniella xox
