I haven't bothered sharing my outfit posts for well over 2 months now. In fact, I've taken a rather laissez-faire attitude (read: disgustingly lazy) towards getting dressed ever since the weather was cold enough for me to sink into my track pants. A rotation of various track pants followed and it's been a downhill battle to appear in anything decent ever since. I blame it on the the uninspiring weather. I also need to fire my stylist. Oh wait, that's........me.

I've been busy devouring a series of personal style blogs but then I realized that the weather here isn't conducive to shorts and pretty dresses. Secondly, my current lifestyle is poles apart from these lovely ladies which means weather, practicality and comfort prevail. Okay, budget too. My wish list is bigger than the balance of my bank account. It's tempting and oh so easy to keep clicking check out when I'm doing some online window shopping.

So for the sake of my vanity, sanity and bank account, I've decided to formulate a personal challenge for the next week or two. Seeing that I tend to freeze into an inertia like state of mind if I have to figure out what to wear everyday, I've decided that it'll be easier if I started with a foundation of a grey t-shirt and a pair of boyfriend jeans (ah....yes...still obsessed with them) and build up the layers depending on the weather and occasion. So, here's the first look on a surprisingly warm autumn day.

    1. Thank you! I wanted to put a link to the Zara biker boots but they're sold out.

  2. You look gorgeous Marlene. And I swear you're looking younger and younger. I can't fault any of this - I'm just on the point of dragging out the old Belstaffs. There have been a few days this week where it's been cold enough for them. I honestly thought you were going for the See by Chloe boots or have you got those stashed away?

    1. Sue, I literally cringed when I posted this photo so thank you for the encouraging words. I'm better suited behind the camera. I actually bought the see by Chloe boots but darn it, they were so uncomfortable that I had to return them. So gutted but these ones by Zara aren't bad at all.

    2. Yes, this! To the gorgeous and younger and younger part, that is. Wish I could pull off your casual looks with such glamourous insouciance...

    3. Alissa, I'm sending you a cyber hug from here for this lovely comment. It's incredible how over-eating and an over-exposed photo can do to fine lines.

  4. Stacey, I'm really impressed with these jeans. I can't believe how well made and flattering they are. And so affordable too. I don't think you'll go wrong with these

  6. I really like this idea - it's clever too, to see how many different ways you can style or change this look, just with a few little differences here and there. I'm thinking of starting up a 30 x 30 challenge for November, might help with curbing the cravings from the sales, which are bound to start up around then!

    1. I think you should, Jamie-Lee. The last time you did that challenge, I was blown away by how many utterly different looks you'd created just out of the same 30 pieces.

  7. You look fantastic, I love how you styled this look. The scarf and bag are to die for. I, too, am finding myself living in my boyfriend jeans now - with various ankle boots. My go to have been embellished or designed sweatshirts. I love that trend !

    1. Thank you! I have a very bad addiction to sweatshirts. I hope the trend never ever dies.

  8. I have to leave a comment here although I already did in the instagram. You are looking great! Lovely outfit! The basics are just too important. They are the foundation of every possibility. I now even wear these t-shirt to work (matching with a decent looking tapered pants or skirt) despite wearing them non-stop in the off days. Saving me time in ironing! - I Ying

    1. You're a sweetheart, I Ying. Hear. Hear. I can't bear ironing at all. Every now and then I crave for a nice statement blouse but a t-shirt is what I feel most comfortable wearing.

    1. Mine cost £79 or was it £70 and they're actually quite heavy with thick soles.

  11. Love everything about this - it's so 'you'! You look amazing in it, you look happy in it and it just oozes style...confident, classic style. Don't look as good as this when we meet or I will cry! x
