sunrise-2

We climbed up a hill which was once an Iron Age fort to try to capture the sunrise on one early summer morning. The mist was still hovering just above the ground in front of the country's oldest charitable institution built in the early 1100s.

Your body language shapes who you are but if you've never been the confident sort, you could significantly change your life by faking a power pose. Check out this video by Amy Cuddy.

My country of birth is Malaysia (Sarawak to be more specific but it's a state). Its capital is on the top of the Most Dangerous Cities in the World list. No surprise there really.  Everyone knows that this year's election was rigged. Religion has been adopted as a political doctrine. The country is rife with corruption and racism. However, perhaps there's hope after all. Here's an interesting take from Syahredzan Johan.

  1. More than ever I want to move to a safe little village. I'm a nervous wreck just now.

    1. Oh Tabitha, it's awful what you've been through. It's a violation of your personal space. ((hugs))

  2. Thank you so so much. I watched that Ted Talk and cried. I feel so victimised just now and hate it. I put a pen in my mouth, put my hands on my hips and stayed there for two minutes, I'm going to do it every day.
Thank you, she asked you to pass it on and it clicked with me.

    1. I'm so pleased that it helped you. It takes a while to feel strong and confident again after a traumatic event like yours. I only wish I knew about this a long time ago. I would've gladly taken you out for a coffee and give you a hug but you live hundreds of miles away from me.

  4. Oh...I've been to Malaysia but as a casual visitor I didn't see notice any of things you describe, of course. Beautiful country, but I guess with its own set of problems.

  6. I've been to Malaysia but only for work - I had no idea that the capital was one of the most dangerous in the world! Everyone I meet lately from Malaysia seems a bit jaded about the process and elections. I mentioned to someone the other day who has always been a die hard Malaysia fan and resident that that I wanted to visit, and he privately messaged me later on saying, "Don't come! I'm actually living most of the time in Singapore now!"

    1. Most of my friends who live and work in KL have been carjacked, mugged etc. They're all scared for their kids. It's the next generation they're worried about.
