You cannot believe the elation I felt the minute I saw the weather forecast for this Sunday - 17˚C!!  Woooohooooooo!!! If you live in the UK, you will totally understand how weather obsessed we are over here. Perhaps I can finally stop popping vitamin D tablets like candies. I spoke to my family back in New Zealand recently and they were complaining about the looooong summer. I mean....really??! Pfffffffft. I'm happy to shift the snow, hail and rain to the other side of the world. Pronto. Fingers crossed, I haven't jinxed the weather forecast.

Anyway, enough about the weather lest I put everyone to sleep. I can't wait to put away all my coats and thick sweaters to get started on the summer clothes. After numerous attempts on my part to introduce colors into my wardrobe and failing miserably, I've decided to stick to what I feel most comfortable in. I'm a girl who's stuck with 3 colors in her wardrobe. Okay, maybe 4 - grey, black, navy and ....... errrr... light grey? The weird thing about this obsession with a monochromatic wardrobe is I prefer to have accessories and footwear in blazing neon colors.

I love the idea of a pair of bright yellow heels because they're surprisingly easy to pair with. Or bada$$ gladiator shoes. And a bright colored bag. But when it comes to my clothes, I like the blazer, breton top and boyfriend jeans (are you sick of the jeans yet?) combo which appeals to my Francophile self. After a long search for a navy blazer, I've found this one from Mango which is easy on the pocket and made of a linen/cotton blend.

I don't usually talk about childrenswear but lately, Boden has started sending me catalogs. Talk about a smart marketing move because before I know it, I'm £60 poorer. My excuse is their clothes are incredibly well made and far cheaper than Petit Bateau. I now totally get why my friends here gush about this brand. I mean they talk in the most reverential manner about Boden, the way my mom talks about the pope. You'll notice that there are every color under the sun here. That's because my 3....oops, I mean 4 color scheme wardrobe doesn't apply to kids.

  1. I can relate to the excitement with the weather! It's Summer weather here after a cold few weeks of Spring. So bizarre.

Anyway, I'm pondering over those same Sam Edelman Trina's for this season! And I think childrens wear shouldn't be limited to the adult color scheme. ;)

  2. I completely understand where you're coming from. Over here in Holland we are also obsessed about the weather. We were suffering from the same conditions, horrible. Also, I believe I don't have much more color in my wardrobe, so wouldn't mind adding that gorgeous red WOC to my collection....

  3. Love the wardrobe you've picked out for yourself for S/S. Have you seen the Mango jacket in real life? I've been humming and hawing over some of their blazers online, but have been told that their clothes can be a bit hit and miss. (having said that, I'm thrilled with some tops I recently bought from them!) Helen

    1. I haven't seen the blazer in person so fingers crossed, it fits well. I bought a leather jacket from Mango more than 10 years ago and it held up exceedingly well. So, let's hope this is ok.

  5. Looks like the perfect summer wardrobe to me, but I can't wait to be able to wear dresses! Love the little girls clothes, if only my three weren't in their 20's I'd have a field day!

  7. Well I have to say, I'd be more than happy to let any of the items shown here in to my wardrobe ... especially that little red beauty of a bag. I'm sure you'd be more than happy to give it wardrobe space ;o)

And I'm actually really sold on the yellow Saltwater sandals for myself - I've heard good things about them.

    1. Bought a pair for Lil L last year and she loved them. Might have to get another seeing that she's very nearly grown out of them.

  11. I could live in boyfriend jeans, a striped top and navy blazer, its THE perfect fail-safe combo and only ever looks chic! Aw and how cute are those clothes for the little ones, adore! :)

  12. I have those Sam Edelman heels - they are so wonderful. Your and Lin's reviews did the trick!
I see what you mean about bursts of colour. The Delhi spring has seen me wear a fuchsia crushed silk scarf almost every day and after months of carrying a burgundy or a navy handbag, I love carrying a bright red leather bag for a change. A little variety is necessary to enjoy a full life :)

  13. I love rolled-up jeans and a mariniere for the summertime! It's a kind of carefree look that has always appealed to me. I want to get something for my friend's 1 year old and was thinking of Petit Bateau but your selection from Boden is lovely so I'll definitely check them out as well.

  14. I've been umming and ahhing over Sam Edelman Trinas but I keep coming back to Saltwaters. I have a red pair that are 2 years old and are just starting to look slightly worn and a tan pair from last summer which still look brand new. I honestly can't imagine ever buying another brand of sandal, even if I do look like a little kid when I insist on wearing them out in the evening.

    1. The summer uniform is so perfect! Honestly if I could wear that kind of outfit every day I would be perfectly happy and comfortable!

Sorry for your long winter. You've had such a tough year with it! Um.. he he.. yes many in Australia have been complaining about the long summer too but honestly, you've had it MUCH harder!

  20. I am so excited for summer. I've put my winter coat away now and I'm not wearing it until Septemmber regardless of the weather! Your summer uniform is very similar to mine apart from I'll be wearing my red breton alot. And I really love those SE sandals. I have no idea which size to purchase though. I am a Size 5.5 or 6. Please could you advise which size to get? xxx

    1. I've just bought my daughter a red breton and I might just do the same for myself :P It's a case of 1 for you, 1 for me... I usually wear a US4 but I fit into a US 5 for the Trina sandals. I have pretty normal width so unless you're very narrow, I'd say go for a 6.

  21. Too bad Boden is in UK. Shipping costs from UK is a killer for me. :(

  22. I'm the opposite, I'm actually sad that it's starting to get cold because after so many months of summer (and actual summer not summer disguised as the longest autumn ever) I have no idea how to dress! Anyway, Loving the idea of some bright yellow pumps in the springtime, and that childrens wear is just freaking adorable!

  23. Boden has great affordable kids things. I think kids should wear color. I can't wait for spring to really set in and for the weather to be a bit more predictable. I hate this back and forth.
