Ever since Isabel Marant introduced her version of the hi-top sneakers with a concealed wedge, the hype for them has escalated to a near hysteria. Paparazzi shots of celebrities wearing them are beamed all over the world. Bloggers got in on the act as well. The names like Bekket, Betty, Bobby, Perkins and Willow became common knowledge. Just in case if I've confused you, these are the different versions of sneakers designed by Isabel Marant.

John Lewis Balham Trainers £110

The once sporty sneakers have become highly coveted and ultra expensive. I admit I've become rather obsessed with them lately. When I found out that Ms Marant had no plans of making these trainers in sizes smaller than a 36, I'd pretty much ditch the idea of ever finding a pair. I'm so pleased that many companies have now jumped on the bandwagon to satisfy the masses. The comfortable looking alternative from John Lewis or otherwise known as Balham (shown above) priced very reasonably at £110 is completely sold out everywhere.

1. Lemare Suede Strapped Hi-Top
2. Ash Bowie Wedge Sneakers
3. Ash Cool Suede Strapped Wedge Trainers
4. Elena Iachi Suede Bicolor Sneakers
5. ASOS DENY Wedge High Top Trainers
6. Serafini Manhattan Sneakers
7. Nike Dunk High Skinny PRM Sneakers

There are many alternatives to Isabel Marant sneakers with prices ranging from £45 to £200 upwards. For those who are unwilling to spend hundreds of pounds on a pair of trendy sneakers, you can always start with a cheaper option like these Asos Deny sneakers.

I've been checking out the Ash Babe sneakers for kids (ahem) because few brands actually go down to a size 34 or 35. I'm consoling myself by saying that at least I don't have to pay VAT on children's shoes. Fingers crossed I can a nab a pair in my size seeing that these Babe sneakers are sold out everywhere too. So if you see a pair (as seen above) in size 35, please let me know. *note the desperation in my last sentence*

  1. Great finds Marlene. It's so good to have alternatives especially cheaper alternatives and in your case, ones that actually fit!

I must admit though, I prefer designers that do their own thing meaning I'm not a fan of other designer's making a shoe look as much as possible like another designer's 'it' shoe (eg. the Lemare - they are just too similar). So many of the others have hit the mark (still providing a concealed wedge with killer styling) but with their own design spin.

I'm loving the range you've found. Truly something for everyone. The featured sneakers numbers 5, 6 and 7 are my absolute favorites. Just perfect.

    1. I see what you mean by the Lemare ones. They're really similar. I might check Nike ones if they have something similar in children's size.

    2. That's a good idea. I know you find it restricting sometimes with the sizing, but when they do them in the kids versions they are so much cheaper (sometimes the colours are better too). Have you been to Nike Town in London? I think that's what it's called. Amazing! I'm sure you would find a pair there.

  2. I love these! I actually prefer the high street versions to the IM because they are less bulky. I've tried the Ash bowie. My favorite so far is a pair from Aldo that I saw on a girl in my building. I haven't been able to find them in the store so I'm leaning toward getting the Ash. What color are you looking for? I will keep my eye out for you.

    1. Thanks, Chloe! I'm looking for ones in neutral tones. So far I've only seen turquoise Babe sneakers which make me feel like I'm wearing neon lights on my feet.

  3. I love the John Lewis and Asos shoes best - they are really fun! You don't know how many times I've ogled the IM Bettys but I haven't been able to pull the trigger for what might be a passing trend. But the copies are price perfect!!

    1. I know what you mean. On one hand, I'm terribly drawn to them, on the other, I don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on a trend.

  4. On a slightly related subject, have you checked out the kids range from Isabel Marant in Liberty? It's amazing! (and expensive) little girls would look achingly cool in her stuff.

  5. It'a amazing the frenzy that those IM sneakers caused. It's probably best to find a more affordable alternative since footwear trends seem to quickly pass. Good luck on the Ash Babe pair you're stalking!

  7. The great thing about these sneakers is they make your legs look so thin!

  8. Love the look of #7 though I personally find it hard to carry off sneakers - they just don't suit me for some reason :( now if I had legs like Miranda Kerr...sigh!

  10. Great finds! I've also kind of been stalking the wedge sneakers. Have you checked out the Topshop versions? I've been eyeing those.. but I can't decide if this is something I can pull off or would want to wear for more than a month or so.. Hmm!!

  13. I bought the Ash Bowie wedge sneakers (an all suede version of the Babe) in Stone a couple of months ago and have been wearing them non-stop since. I tried to like the IM Bobbys/Bettys but they looked odd on me. Plus I couldn't stomache the price point. The Bowies were about $225. Much better!

They are comfortable and easy to walk in for high heel phobics like us. The only thing I don't love is the white rubber bottom. It gets dirty so easily. :(

I think you would love them Marlene. I'll keep an eye out for you!

    1. Are the heels quite high? I seem to get conflicting info about its height. I've never tried Bobbys or Bettys because they're rather wide. Seeing that their smallest size is still 2 sizes too big, it wouldn't have worked anyway. Yeah, the price point!

    2. I measured - the wedge is 2 1/2 inches. Not bad, eh?

  15. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or
copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of exclusive content I've either created myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any methods to help stop content from being ripped off? I'd definitely appreciate it.
