Ever since I caught the Isabel Marant fever and became obsessed with the Parisian style, I haven't thought much about the preppy look that J Crew is so famous for.  I've heard rumors that they're opening up shop somewhere on Regent St in London. What took them so long? I've admired their clothes for a decade but it's hard to gauge the size or fit online. Returning the clothes is another major concern since they're shipped from the US. I've taken some inspiration from their website and thought I'll do preppy for the week.

I'm rather proud that I didn't include a single black garment in any of the ensembles. That's a rare feat for someone like me who's used to dress in black head to toe.  I've started to introduce more colors into my wardrobe albeit at a snail speed. The next step would be getting a couple more colored denim in plum and red. The sun's shining, the birds are chirping, the day's getting longer and it's time to replace dreary black with colors! I hope you're all having a great week.

**For those who asked, my Uniqlo jeans can be found here.

  1. Lovely. Buy it all now! Really like the Phillip Lim top. I've never bought anything from him but am getting more and more tempted.

    1. Before my IM obsession, I was REALLY into Phillip Lim. I still am. My favorites are his tops with exquisitely detailed neckline.

  2. Great looks! You've really shown how versatile colored denim can be (especially in this great olive color). This trend is causing me to break out of my shell a bit, as I also tend to stick to neutrals or black. That second look with the trench is just adorable. And if you ever need anything from J. Crew in the states, let me know. There is one across the street! :)

    1. Natalie, you shouldn't have said that!! So sweet of you to offer. The temptation is too great. On second thought, I'm glad we don't have J Crew yet. My bank account is safe - for now.

  3. I love all of these looks! And if you ever need help with JCrew sizing, I'm your gal. Much of my wardrobe comes from there. It's awesome!

    1. *smack forehead* For some reason, I always associated you with Ted Baker and IM. I'll definitely do so in the near future.

    2. LOL - I DO love those so much but I find IM and Ted work beautifully with JCrew. The Crew often mimics APC, Petit Bateau and even Zadig and Voltaire sometimes. For much less!

    3. Really? I clearly haven't checked their website enough. I saw a few sweaters that I'd really love to get. They were reduced to £40 ish which I thought were such a great price. You're right APC and Z&V are crazy expensive, the latter more so. You're put me on a downward slope with JCrew.

  6. I love the outfits you have created!! Now you have me rethinking color denim. I too wear mostly back but I'm trying to wear some color. It is a hard habit to break.

    1. I still have to restrain myself from dressing head to toe in black. I can't count how many black tees I've got. Got to think colors!

  8. That 3.1 Philip Lim blouse is so pretty. I want to raid your closet.

You know, after many years of being anti-black and rarely wearing it (I use to wear it head to toe, too!), I have been turning full circle this past year and have begun wearing it again. Go figure!

You will love J crew. I'm wearing one of thier tissue T's as I write this. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't NAP UK sell J Crew?

    1. I'm constantly fighting the urge to look like "A lady in black". Oh well, who knows I might revert back to it if the weather turns for the worse. NAP stocks very limited range. None that I truly want. Sometimes a few heavily reduced pieces pop up on theoutnet but again, nothing like the range on J Crew website.

  9. Thank you for your comments today, you made my day *blush*!

J crew is amazing, I spend hours in the NY store two years ago. The Pixie Pants are my all time favorites.
All of the outfits you put together are wonderful, easy, effortless and chic. Clean chic, something the French Vouge team would wear when "off duty" ;)
When shopping at H&M stay away from the mainstream sections, the sweater I´m wearing in my latest post is H&M LOGG (it´s so soft and the cut is amazing, it´s longer in the back) and most of the other clothes are H&M Trend. Good luck!

    1. My pleasure, Dorota :)) Thank you for compliment! I'll definitely keep that in mind. I normally walk into the mainstream sections and then walk right out. So LOGG and Trend. Got it! Thanks again!

  20. This is a really inspiring post--it makes me think I could pull off colored denim! I didn't think that possible! Part of that encouragement comes from the color chosen--a delicate, neutral green is so handy (and on my mind right now). If I ever get somewhere with a good color choice (and at a price point that doesn't make me wrinkle my nose), I'll try it!

  27. That's great J.Crew is opening doors in London! I have a feeling they'll price their clothes even higher in other countries as they expand overseas. In my experience, their sizing runs big, I usually have to size down one or two sizes. I wonder how they will convert their sizes internationally; UK people might be surprised at their vanity sizing!
