Karen Walker dress: 3 looks

Wednesday 3 August 2011
The weather is finally warm enough for me to start wearing my dresses again. You've probably seen this dress last year. I make no apologies for displaying the same dress, shoes and accessories over and over again paired in various ways. I believe in using everything in my closet to death but that does not mean I don't resole my shoes, mend any holes or look after my bags and accessories to prolong their life. I'll only invest in something I'll get a lot of wear out of it.

This 4 year old Karen Walker dress with flutter sleeves and scooped neck is very forgiving AND flattering. Two essential requirements for any clothing articles I purchase. It's also machine washable and there's no need to iron. I don't know about you but doing laundry and ironing are two torturous activities I'd rather do without. I've worn it to weddings, school runs or paired with tights and boots in winter.

  4. I love the dress, and the fact that it needs no ironing (i would rather eat dirt then iron, that's how much i hate it). I really like how you've shown it different ways, my favorite is the last outfit, since I love the Stuart Wiseman boots and the Louis Vuitton Shawl. You have such an awesome closet :)

  6. Lauraloo, you couldn't have said it better. I'm trying to stick to seasonless dresses. After all, if I'd paid £££, they need to be worn. A LOT!

Sog19b, I've always found Karen Walker dresses to be unique. I'd much rather invest in one or two of her clothes than buy a ton of high St brands.

Katherine, thanks! Glad you like the pairings. I think that Ted Baker jacket has been through snow, rain and hail!

Sharon, LOL! I thought of you when I photographed the LV shawl.

AA, you're very kind. Thank you. I've kept a lot of Karen Walker dresses from previous collections. They're still in vogue to this day.

  10. Thanks, Sam! I've worn the combination to a wedding once. So much easier to deal with a little one in flats.

  13. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing blogs that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. Beaded Bracelets for Women
