Beauty: Trilogy Organic Rosehip Oil

Friday 4 March 2011
My mother looks at least 15 years younger than her actual age. I've always been blessed with good genes which I had thoroughly taken for granted. I went through my 20s and early 30s being mistaken for a college student which at the time rather than being flattered, it made me annoyed. Each time I was asked for my ID, there was much eye rolling on my part before slapping my driver license on the counter to prove my point. *sigh* These days, I look for every opportunity to be ID'ed. "What?! You mean you don't want to see my ID?"

Due to my own negligence, my skin has become dry and blotchy with open pores despite having an oily T zone. I had a rude awakening at my last facial in New Zealand when the beautician asked if I was in my late 30s or 40s. Just as well I have skin as thick as the buffalo hide or else my self esteem would've been snuffed out within a nanosecond. The laughing lines on the corners of my eyes have deepened and the rest of face was dehydrated.

I swung into action. I slapped on hydrating mask 3-4 times a week. I went on a buying frenzy as well as collected a ton of samples from No.7 serum to Creme de la Mer. I tried everything on for a week. The famed No.7 serum was divine on the skin but I needed more hydration. Creme de la Mer didn't make a difference which I'm thankful because it's so darn expensive. I could go on. However, this got me thinking. I've switched to organic fruit, vegetables and meat. Shouldn't I do the same for my skincare? After all, the synthetic chemicals are absorbed into my skin.

My mother had espoused the virtue of rosehip oil so I decided to give it a try. After much research, I purchased a bottle of Trilogy Organic Rosehip Oil. It's a New Zealand company started by two moms who believed in ethical and organic ingredients in their skincare range. It comes in two sizes - 20ml and 45 ml. I like that the bottles come with a dropper so there's no wastage or spillage. After trying it for a week, my skin looks different. After a month, the difference is startling. The deep lines on the corner of my eyes are plumped up and aren't even visible anymore. My cheeks are hydrated and the skin doesn't look stretched when I smile. When I wake up in the morning, my skin looks radiant even before I wash or moisturize. I'm really thrilled! I've used Decleor Neroli oil for years but it didn't produce the same results as the Trilogy Rosehip Oil. It's inexpensive, contains no preservatives or chemicals and it's also safe for your baby.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil available at Feelunique.com £14.40

  2. The harsh winter has an adverse effect skin. My skin looked like dried prune! There were reviews about the generic branded rosehip oil which apparently didn't work as well as the Trilogy.

  4. Brilliant! Must try this! I've been using Caudalie for awhile now (love that it's all natural, too) but this will be fun to try. I think we even have the same skin issues. Scary, M! LOL!

  6. Laura - NO! This IS getting pretty scary. I guess you'll be perfect for bouncing off ideas since I know you'll be thinking about the same thing! I'm trying another all natural/organic skincare from Australia. I normally try things out for a month before I review it on the blog.

  11. Linda, I wished I bought the Trilogy skincare range when I was in NZ. They're really popular there and far cheaper too. I've yet to try their body range. Do let me know what you think of them.

Rachel, I'm guilty of that but judging from your photos, I think you have nothing to worry about!

  12. I need one of those! I can totally relate ... from getting ID'd to having more dehydrated skin with more visible lines.

  13. It must be ageing process. I've always had oily skin until my 30s.

  14. Thanks for the tip. I will go buy it immediately. I also have a tip. I use La Praire´s hudrating mask as a night cream. My skin is super soft in the mornings. The only draw back is the price, it gets rather expencive when you use it every night (I splash on a thickish layer:0).

  15. Kat, I thought of La Prairie but the price tag is crippling. A good friend of mine uses their skincare range and raves about it.

  16. I have tried a few of their masques, and the one I use as night cream is by far their best. I´m using Carita cleansing foam with little grains in it. It´s really good (not too expencive either). I cannot wait to try the rosehip oil! I just ordered it. Thanks, I love to try new and unusual brands:0) I will report back!

  17. Don't forget to report back. I'd love to see hear any updates. A friend of mine here ordered one and she was amazed by the results. I've ditched my eye cream as these have reduced my lines far more than my ultra expensive cream.

  18. Yay, hopefully it will work its magic on me too:0) Do you use it once or twice/day?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I use it twice a day. I've been using 5 drops because my skin was very dehydrated but will reduce it to 2/3 as recommended now that it has improved so much.
